Frequently Asked Questions
An MCP resource is a service, tool, or capability registered in the MCP (Model Context Protocol) ecosystem. Resources can be discovered and connected to AI agents to extend their abilities with external tools and data sources.
MCP resources enable AI systems to access external tools, data sources, and services through a standardized protocol. They become critical when: • Building AI applications that need to interact with external systems • Working with specialized tools that extend AI capabilities • Creating production systems where reliability and interoperability matter Well-configured MCP resources help you build more powerful, reliable AI-powered applications.
webmcp.land is a community-driven registry where people share, discover, and connect MCP resources. Users can register their MCP services and tools, making them discoverable for the entire community. Free and open source.
Simply browse the registry, find a resource you need, and copy its endpoint URL or configuration. You can then use it in your AI applications, Claude Desktop, VS Code, or any MCP-compatible client.
Yes! All resources on webmcp.land are released under the Apache-2.0 (Apache License 2.0) license, which means they are open source. You can use, modify, and distribute them freely for any purpose, including commercial use, without attribution.
Absolutely! webmcp.land is fully open source. You can deploy your own private instance for your team or organization. Check out our self-hosting documentation for setup instructions.
Verification is granted by administrators to users who consistently share quality resources. There are no strict rules — if you contribute valuable resources to the community, an admin may select you as verified. Focus on creating helpful, well-crafted resources and the recognition will follow.
Each user receives 3 AI generation credits per day by default. These credits allow you to generate preview images, videos, or audio for your resources using AI. Administrators can adjust the daily credit limit for individual users if needed.
If you notice incorrect attribution on a resource (for example, if you're the original author but not credited), please open an issue on our GitHub repository. You can use the form below to submit your issue, and we'll review and correct it as soon as possible.
